  • Bi-Plane and Glider
The Island is memorably beautiful however you see it – by foot, bike, horse, car, boat… but from the air it's even more special. This gives you an entirely different perspective. Look at the accompanying photographs of the bi-plane and the glider. Then imagine yourself up there. Some of the bi-plane flights will pass right over our homes at Zephyr Shore. Please take pictures, and send us copies!
On The Water:
  • “Diver Ed”
A two-hour underwater extravaganza you and your family (of all ages) will love! You’re in the boat, while Diver Ed is exploring the depths of Frenchman’s Bay, sending real-time video back to the big screen in front of you. All ages will enjoy learning about oceanography, while watching Ed interact with the denizens of the deep – starfish, sea cucumbers, lobsters, seals, porpoises, anemones, crabs, scallops and many other fellows you’ll normally meet only on the beach, rocks, water (or your dinner plate!)
 
Ed will bring some of his friends back to the boat, where you and the kids can see and touch them in the boat’s Touch Tanks, before they’re returned safely to the sea. And by the way, Ed is very funny as well, so you’ll have both an informative and amusing time with him and his crew.
  • Nature Cruise
This two hour cruise passes close by Sound of the Sea, the Porcupine Islands, Egg Rock and its Lighthouse and Ironbound Island.

This wonderful cruise offers close-up views of eagles, puffins, cormorants, osprey, seals, and other fascinating natives of Frenchman’s Bay.
  • Whale Watch Cruise
The Gulf of Maine is visited by humpback, finback and Minke whales. Our favorite whale watch tour is on a catamaran that gets you out to whale territory much faster than other boats, so you have more time actually looking for and watching the whales! Enjoy food, beer and wine during the trip.
  • Lobster Boat Trip
Sail from Bar Harbor with a local lobster fisherman, but in a specially-built lobster boat designed so you can view wildlife from the bow of the boat! The captain doubles as a naturalist, so you learn firsthand about both lobster fishing and the varied life that abounds in Frenchman’s Bay. You may sail right past Zephyr Shore during this trip!
  • Sunset Cruise
Enjoy sailing at sunset on the triple-masted Windjammer boat, while you look out for eagles, seals and porpoises.
You can watch all these boats sail right pass Rising Sun and Sound of the Sea.  Be sure to wave to the passengers when you’re outside, standing on our shore’s granite ledges!
