Your Views at Rising Sun
The two incomparable features of our home are the land on which it sits, with its ready access to the most exciting rocky shoreline you’ll find; and the glorious views from every room in the house.
We designed the house from the inside out, to take full advantage of the 210 degrees of panoramic views -- water views from the six bedrooms, living room, kitchen, two of the showers and baths, sun room, family room, three decks and two patios. |
Our cathedral-ceilinged entrance hall, balcony, and other bathrooms enjoy magnificent views of flower gardens, rock outcroppings, and trees.
The panorama ranges from the open ocean (Gulf of Maine) at one end and sweeps into Frenchman’s Bay, past Egg Rock Lighthouse, the Thrumcap, Ironbound Island, and Bald Porcupine Island. |
Every bed is positioned so you can enjoy the rising sun from your pillow, and six of the eight beds also provide glorious views of the star-studded sky.
Before the sun itself rises, the period the Spanish call “La Madrugada” (“Before Dawn”) brings the most magnificent array of colors to the sky and sea below. And after the sun rises, the sea glitters with the reflected light of the sun. |
At dusk, on many an evening, the sunset paints Frenchman’s Bay and the white clouds floating above a gentle, dreamy pink… Once full nighttime has arrived, the renowned Mount Desert dark sky sparkles with starlight. Most special of all is when the light of a full moon glistens off the rippling water and bathes the entire landscape in its brightness.
